Top UK Camping Sites Articles - Travel - Travel Tips

Camping culture is very strong around the world, however not many people seem to talk about it here in the UK. Many camping sites in the US are world renowned and camping in places such as the Grand Canyon, Mount Washington and the Utah national parks are an interest of millions. In contrast, British camping sites have never been mentioned with such an enthusiasm. What we don't know is that there are some top class camping sites in the UK and this article is here to tell you all about them.

Grendon Lakes, near Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

The diverse side of camping

The family orientated water sports site is set on 150 acres of land and the activities are very diversified depending the time of the day. Mornings are filled with families and groups wake boarding, banan-boat riding and jet skiing on the lakes. On the afternoon, barbecues are fired up and the park gets pretty busy especially on weekends and bank holidays. This is only an initial celebration as during the night, the camp park turns it self into a slightly Ibiza-ish kind of thing. DJs and bands get the crowds going on the dance floor and things go from camping to clubbing.

Smugglers Haven, Newquay, Cornwall

For the Youth

Offering a large range of accommodation from caravans to camping pitches, the park is perfect for party people as it is exclusively for 18-30 year olds. Staying up all night is encouraged, tents are seen merely as places to "rest your spinning head" and visitors need to be able to enjoy loud noises. A Shaking' Shack bar, a pool, surfing and nightclubs are all in your doorstep.

Swn y Mor, Borth, Caredigion, Wales

Coastal Camping

Part of a wonderful landscape of incredible sea views, breathtaking landscapes and sheltered dunes, the Swn y Mor is the ultimate family get-a-way all year long. The indoor and outdoor pools allow the weather to play a minimal part in your holiday. The camping site is 100% focused on family entertainment and its bowling alleys, arcades, spas and a bar are open every day therefore boredom is unacceptable. A golf course is also available.

Ardnamurchan, Kilchoan, Acharacle, Argyll

Adventurous Scotland

Sitting on a terrace overlooking a loch, Ardnamurchan is a divine camping site. Surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. The park still offers activities for the ones that are not fond of the sandy wonders. The peninsula allows its visitors to walk around an extinct volcano and even go inside it. There are also regular fossil-hunting trips and bug tours organised by the park's staff.

Vintage Vacations, near Ryde, Isle of Wight

Vintage Camping

If you recently just watched an 80's American movie with middle aged folks living in an aluminium trailer and wearing white underwear vests with beer cans lying around everywhere and you had the thought of how cool it would be to live like this some day, Vintage Vacations is the place for you. The trailers are all shiny retro silver and the guitars will be kept sounding in your stay. An open minded group of friends grabbing all their 15 year old clothes and a few wall rugs will make your visit to Vintage Vacations definitely memorable.
